Kaleidoscopic Arts Platform

Konstantina Skalionta and I believe there is a need for a platform that showcases the work of emerging female choreographers.

We've designed the Kaleidoscopic Arts Platform to bring audiences and artists closer together by using an unconventional performance space that removes the traditional hierarchy between performers and the audience and by inviting frank post-performance discussion between audience, choreographers and performers.

A leap of faith:

After funding a successful pilot event ourselves we are now looking into all our options to make the Kaleidoscopic Arts Platform into a quarterly platform that can continuously support emerging female choreographers with exposure, mentoring and professional footage of their work enabling them to drive their vision forward. We want the platform to be the initation of a network of female choreographers who can call upon each other for artistic and practical support.

Have a look at our website www.kaleidoscopic-arts.co.uk, follow us on Facebook and Twitter (@ArtsKaleid) and contact us at platform@kaleidoscopic-arts.co.uk if you're interested in our work! We're looking forward to hearing from you.

The first Kaleidoscopic Arts Platform on November 13 at 47/49 Tanner Street shared the works of Lucy Wild and Marah Wilson, Lucia Schweigert, Konstantina Skalionta and Lizzie J Klotz. We had a great evening of dance and wonderful and helpful feedback from our audience. Thank you very much to everyone who came, everyone involved and to Polly and Rosie of 47/49 for their support! We used the Hub space at 47/49 Tanner Street inventively to create different levels of engagement and finally sat down together for a Q&A. Polly Robbins, director at 47/49 Tanner Street, said: "The discussion afterwards was energetic and inclusive, and evidently helped both the performers and the audience to understand the pieces and the topics raised better."   Photography by Ines Neto Dos Santos
We will programme a diverse range of works representing and giving an insight into the works of female choreographers today. To us the kaleidoscope is a symbol of how many different pieces can together create one colourful, unified experience.
We encourage the audience to note their thoughts, praise and criticism on post-its.
Despite our limited funds we wanted to create a professional experience. I designed the flier on instantprint.co.uk and the programme in Word.
